And why this is a crisis like no other the corporation has faced
The resignation of Shumeet Banerji from the BBC Board exposes the governance issues at the heart of the current BBC crisis, which I predicted in previous posts and podcasts. At the British Broadcasting Challenge, a small and classic british collection of liberal do-gooders committed to the values of Public Service Broadcasting, we published a report before this crisis broke that said the governance of the BBC needed fixing; the BBC needs to be truly independent, universal in availability and ambition, and funded at scale.
